Buybacks by Global Palm Resources (BLW-GPR.SP) since Aug account for 92% of volume
Buybacks by palm oil and kernels producer Global Palm Resources Holdings Limited (BLW-GPR.SP) [MKT CAP 60.3M] since August totaling 1.497 million shares accounted for 92% of the stock's trading volume. The acquisitions were made from August 12 to October 11 at $0.24 to $0.30 each or an average of $0.279 each. The Company bought shares on 25 out of the 42 trading days during that period. The Group last bought 60,000 shares from October 10 to 11 at $0.302 each [3MTH -2%(30%), 6MTH -4%(26%) 70 FILINGS-JUN 2014]. The trades since August were made on the back of the drop in the share price since July from $0.35. The Company embarked on this buyback spree after it announced on August 11 a 402% gain in 2Q profit to IDR 17.307 billion for the 3 months to 30 June 2016. Earnings in 1H, however, fell by 9% to IDR 14.688 billion. Aside from the repurchases since August, the Group acquired 199,000 shares from June 2 to 14 at $0.255 to $0.29 each or an average of $0.263 each and 834,000 shares from January 7 to March 1 at $0.235 to $0.265 each or an average of $0.254 each. Prior to the buybacks this year, the Company acquired 1.22 million shares from January to October 2015 at $0.398 to $0.296 each or an average of $0.347 each* (adjusted 1 for 2, Stock Split or Significant Stock Dividend on December 3, 2015) and 1.76 million shares from June to July 2014 at $0.38 to $0.49 each or an average of $0.44 each. The counter was trading at $0.30 on October 12 (Asia Insider News Oct 12, 2016).
